A playful mural for when nature calls!
A unique custom mural design to adorn Terrain Group’s new 'all aluminium restroom' building, as part of the City of Marion’s Nannigai Drive Reserve parkland redevelopment in Hallett Cove, South Australia.
The Birds of Nannigai mural creates a vibrant centre-piece for the new redevelopment, adding a bold pop of colour and fun to the adjacent children’s playground, while highlighting the reserve's much-loved birdlife.
A mural design inspired by nature
City of Marion’s community consultation identified local residents had a strong preference for retaining the natural ambiance of the reserve and highlighted the importance of protecting trees and birdlife with the redevelopment. With this in mind, the Birds of Nannigai theme emerged for the mural design.
Research was conducted on-site prior to commencing the design to observe the many species frequenting the reserve. The most prolific and iconic species were chosen to star as parkland ambassadors – their playful personalities brought to life in a colourful, pop-art mural for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

They can be produced year-round, so are not weather dependant and the prints have an anti-graffiti coating, allowing graffiti to be washed off with a high-pressure water blaster without damaging the artwork – a benefit to both councils and businesses. Working this way also allows me to complete mural commissions remotely for projects based interstate or internationally.
